From a chemical structure perspective, hydrogen containing silicone oil is based on a flexible main chain composed of Si-O bonds, with methyl (- CH3) endowing it with hydrophobicity, while Si-H bonds provide high reactivity. According to the difference in Si-H bond density, it can be divided into two categories: high hydrogen containing and low hydrogen containing. High hydrogen containing silicone oil (m=0) has stronger reaction activity due to the dense Si-H bonds; Low hydrogen silicone oil (m>0) has better flexibility due to the introduction of some dimethyl siloxane segments.
In terms of physical properties, it is a colorless and transparent liquid with a viscosity range of about 10-50 mm ²/s at 25 ℃, a density of 0.995-1.015 g/cm ³, a refractive index of 1.390-1.410, a hydrogen content of not less than 1.55%, a flash point exceeding 180 ℃, and both high temperature resistance, weather resistance, and significant hydrophobicity.
Its core applications are reflected in surface treatment and functional modification in multiple fields. In terms of waterproof treatment, a hydrophobic film can be formed on the surface of substrates such as fabrics, glass, ceramics, paper, leather, metal, cement, marble, etc. through coating or impregnation. Especially, fabric treatment can achieve simultaneous breathability, stain resistance, and wear resistance; In the field of architecture, it is used for waterproofing roofs, exterior walls, and restoration of ancient buildings.
When used as a crosslinking agent, Si-H bonds can undergo hydrosilylation reaction with vinyl silicone oil, forming a three-dimensional network structure, enhancing the strength of silicone rubber, or improving weather resistance, high temperature resistance, and hydrophobicity in coatings and adhesives. In the anti sticking demolding scenario, it serves as a rubber/plastic demolding agent and paper anti sticking isolation agent, effectively reducing adhesion and improving production efficiency.
In the field of electronics, surface treatment can be applied to components to improve their insulation properties; In the daily chemical industry, it is used as an moisturizer or hair conditioner.
