Cold shrink cable accessories utilize the high elasticity of silicone rubber material to inject and mold high-temperature vulcanized silicone rubber into various tubular components of different structures. Special machinery is then used to expand the tubular components of different structures. When the inner diameter of the component expands to about three times, a specially designed plastic support tube is placed into the tubular component to keep the silicone rubber tubular component in an expanded state. These expanded components become the components of cold shrink cable accessories.
During on-site installation, these expanded components are inserted into the treated cable ends or joints, and the internal support tubes (strips) are pulled out. The silicone rubber components automatically shrink and press onto the cable insulation. It is designed as a cable accessory. Because it relies on the elastic shrinkage force of silicone rubber at room temperature, rather than heating and shrinking with fire like heat shrink cable accessories, it is commonly known as cold shrink cable accessories.
Cold shrink cable accessories have an important requirement for silicone rubber. After two years of expansion and storage, it can still be reset, shrunk, and tightly pressed onto the cable insulation.
Cable accessories are a relatively special product that must withstand the high electric field generated at the outer shielding fracture of the cable during operation, as well as the high temperature generated when the cable core passes through high currents (generally normal operating temperature of 90 β, short-term short-circuit temperature of 250 β).
Power cable terminals are generally installed outdoors. After installation, the product is exposed to the atmosphere, enduring sunlight in summer and ice and snow in winter; The product is required to withstand potential lightning surge high voltage (110kV cable terminals are required to withstand 550kV surge voltage); It also needs to withstand the operational overvoltage that may be generated by the system equipment.
