1. High and low temperature resistance
Silicone rubber has the widest operating temperature range of all rubbers (-100-350°C). For example, vinyl silicone rubber or low phenyl silicone rubber retains elasticity after aging thousands of hours in hot air at 250°C or hundreds of hours at 300°C; The vulcanized rubber of low phenyl silicone rubber can still maintain elasticity after aging for dozens of hours in hot air at 350 °C, its glass transition temperature is minus 140 °C, and its vulcanized rubber is between minus 70~100 °C, which is still elastic at high temperatures. Silicone rubber is used as a thermal protective coating on the inner wall of the rocket nozzle, which can withstand thousands of degrees of heat in an instant.

2. Resistance to ozone aging, oxygen aging, light aging, and weather aging
The performance of silicone rubber vulcanized rubber has not changed significantly after being exposed to the sun for several years in the free state.

The electrical insulating properties of silicone rubber vulcanizate do not change much when wet, frequency or temperature increases, and the silica produced after combustion is still an insulator. In addition, silicone rubber has few carbon atoms in its molecular structure and does not require carbon black as a filler, so it is not flammable in arcing and is very reliable in high-voltage applications. It has excellent corona resistance and arc resistance. Its corona resistance life is 1000 times that of PTFE and 20 times that of fluoroelastomer.

3. Special surface properties and physiological inertness
Silicone rubber has a smaller surface energy than most organic materials and has low moisture absorption. The water absorption rate of silicone rubber immersed in water for a long time is only about 1%. The physical properties of silicone rubber do not decrease. It has good anti-mildew properties. It does not bond to many materials and can act as an insulator. Silicone rubber is odorless, non-toxic, has no adverse effects on the human body, reacts slightly with body tissues, and has excellent physiological inertia and physiological aging performance.

4. High permeability
Compared with other polymer materials, silicone rubber has good air permeability, the permeability of nitrogen, oxygen and air at room temperature is 30-40 times higher than that of natural rubber, and the permeability of gas is selective, such as about 5 times that of carbon dioxide.

5. Biomedical performance
Silicone rubber has excellent biomedical properties due to its molecular structure. This has been demonstrated by the successful application of a large number of animal and human experiments.
