Torr seal sealant is a low vapor pressure epoxy resin adhesive, also known as "vacuum adhesive", "ultra-high vacuum sealant", "vacuum AB adhesive", etc., which is one of Agilent's best-selling vacuum products. It can be used for bonding a variety of materials, such as metal, ceramics, glass, etc., and has good sealing performance; after curing, it has a very low outgassing rate, so that it can be used in an ultra-high vacuum environment of 1e-9mbar or even lower pressure.
Application 1: bonding and fixing various parts in the vacuum chamber
Torr seal sealant is an epoxy resin adhesive, similar to ordinary AB adhesive, which contains two components, both of which are paste like, and start to cure slowly after mixing. Different from the common AB glue, Torr seal has a very low vapor pressure, which means that even when it is used in a vacuum environment, it can release very little gas, so it can be used in the interior of a vacuum chamber for temporary or permanent bonding and fixing of various parts. (temporary bonding can reduce the amount of glue, or use the methods mentioned below to remove the cured glue) application 2: vacuum sealing or plugging
Torr seal is often used for vacuum sealing of screw, connection and vacuum sealing between glass, ceramic and metal, sealing between electrode and flange of feed through, connection and vacuum sealing of various vacuum tubes such as X-ray tube, laser tube, etc. Because it is permanent after curing and has certain strength, it can also be used for the connection and sealing of vacuum pipe and flange. In addition to being used for bonding, Torr seal can also be used for vacuum cavity plugging. It can quickly block the leakage of various vacuum systems or components. For general vacuum leakage, it can be directly glued without breaking the vacuum. After the glue becomes hard, it can directly carry out leak detection or start normal use without any other treatment such as repair welding. Application 3: non vacuum sealing or bonding sensitive to odor
Torr seal is cured with curing agent, and the resin and curing agent do not contain any solvent, so it will not smell irritant odor when it is used. After curing, there is no volatile substance such as formaldehyde, which makes it also can be used in non vacuum applications with high odor requirements. technical parameter

Torr seal is available in two packages: economy and gun. The economic package includes one tube of resin and one tube of curing agent (resin 82G, curing agent 36g, about 75ml in total) packed in aluminum plastic tube, which needs to be mixed evenly manually before use. The glue gun package includes plastic hose with resin and curing agent (about 50ml in total), glue gun and mixing hose. The glue gun, glue gun and mixing hose can also be purchased separately.
Use method of economic packaging: 1. Clean and dry the surface of the gluing place to ensure that there is no water, oil, dust, rust and other residues; 2. Extrude the two components into the same length (the volume ratio of resin and curing agent is about 2:1), mix them evenly with ice cream stick on a clean plane; if there are solid particles at the beginning of the extruded adhesive, please discard this section and do not use it; 3. Apply the evenly mixed adhesive to the surface to be bonded for bonding or leakage plugging; 4. Carefully remove the redundant adhesive around and wipe the surface stained by the adhesive with a dust-free cloth; 5. Wait for the adhesive to fully cure (heating properly can accelerate the curing process)
Usage of glue gun
1. Clean and dry the surface of the gluing place to ensure that there is no water, oil, dust, rust and other residues; 2. Assemble the glue gun and hose according to the instructions in the figure below;
3. Extrude the glue for a section to ensure the smooth flow (no solid particles, crystallization, etc.) and install the mixing tube. Extrude the glue from the mixing tube for about 1cm and discard it (the two components in the first section may not be evenly mixed); 4. Apply the evenly mixed glue on the surface to be bonded for sticking or leaking hole plugging; 5. Carefully remove the redundant glue around and wipe it with a dust-free cloth Clean; 6. After use, keep the rubber tube together with the mixing tube, and then remove the mixing tube and replace it with a new one when it is used next time; do not reuse the cap of the rubber tube (when it is used again, the two components at the cap may mix and harden, causing the cap cannot be removed or the outlet of the rubber tube is blocked).
7. Wait for the adhesive to cure completely (proper heating can accelerate the curing process)
How to remove excess or unused glue
Before the glue completely hardens, you can use a scraper, blade, etc. to scrape off the excess glue, and use a dust-free cloth to clean the surface stained by the glue. Torr seal's hardness after curing is less than that of ordinary art blade, so after it has hardened or even fully cured, it can use art blade or similar tools to remove redundant or unused glue. If there is more glue to be removed, liquid nitrogen or other methods can be used to create a low-temperature environment to remove the glue. Torr seal will crack under liquid nitrogen temperature and lose adhesion, which can be easily removed.
Other precautions
1. Before use, please make sure that the gluing place is thoroughly cleaned and dried without any water, oil, dust, rust and other residues;
2. If there are solid particles in the beginning of extrusion, please do not use them, and do not use them if they are not mixed evenly, which will lead to poor curing of the adhesive; 3. For the thread seal to be removed, or the temporary plugging of small holes, you can only use the resin part, which can not only play the role of sealing, but also will not solidify, which is easy to remove; 4. The two components are mixed After that, the sizing should be completed as soon as possible; the chemical reaction of solidifying will start after the two components are mixed, and the fluidity of the sizing will gradually become poor until it is completely hardened; 5, when the temperature is low (& LT); 15 ℃), the resin composition may solidify or crystallize, resulting in the decrease of fluidity, and it is difficult to mix evenly. At this time, even if the temperature rises to about 25 ℃, the crystallization will not disappear. It can be soaked in hot water of about 40 ℃ for 30 minutes to eliminate the crystallization and restore the fluidity; 6. Heating before mixing can increase the fluidity, and heating after mixing can accelerate the curing. 7. When using, please do a good job in safety protection (wear protective gloves, goggles, mask, protective clothing, etc.), and avoid the glue before or after mixing to contact the skin, enter the eyes or mouth.
