Insulating glass integrates excellent characteristics such as heat insulation, sound insulation, and lighting. It is an effective energy saving means for modern buildings. It not only simplifies the structural design of ventilation and heating facilities such as air conditioning, reduces building decoration costs, but also increases the effectiveness of buildings interior space.
With the rapid rise of glass curtain walls in China in the 1990s, the development of the insulating glass industry has been accelerated. The scope of application of insulating glass is constantly expanding. In addition to being widely used in glass curtain walls, automobiles, transportation, aircraft, etc., it has entered a large number of new buildings and ordinary people's homes. People also have higher and higher requirements for the quality of insulating glass.
The application of butyl sealant is the first and key step in the manufacture of insulating glass. It determines the overall quality and performance of insulating glass products (whether it meets the five indicators of national standards for insulating glass).
The non-drying sealant composed of butyl rubber and a small amount of polyisobutylene will not dry out in the manufacture of insulating glass, can be mechanically glued, and is suitable for assembly line use. After coating, the glue layer does not dry to maintain permanent tackiness.
It also has excellent heat and water resistance, will not flow under the sun and rain, and maintains the airtightness of the insulating glass. Together with the second sealant, it forms an excellent moisture resistance system.
So what are the precautions for butyl sealant in use?
1. Open the original packaging and check for obvious particles and debris.
2. Do not apply too fast, so as not to apply to the head.
3. If the coating is not applied or the pressure roller is lifted, the pressing time is too short, and the pressure roller time can be adjusted again.
4. The coated aluminum bulkhead should not be placed for too long, otherwise it will affect the effect of bonding and sealing.
5. The deviation of the transmission belt should be corrected in time. If there is too much adhesive in the transmission belt, it should be removed in time. A small amount of paraffin can be applied to prevent the adhesion.
6. After applying the first sealant, press as much as possible in a short time to avoid the impact of ambient temperature on product adhesion.
7. Before making double-pass insulating glass, a compatibility test must be performed on the double-pass sealant to prevent the two sealants from being compatible.
