Phenyl liquid silicone rubber

Hits: 1416 img

Phenyl liquid silicone rubber is a special type of silicone rubber prepared by introducing phenyl groups into the main or side chains of polydimethylsiloxane. With its unique molecular structure, it exhibits excellent properties such as high and low temperature resistance, radiation resistance, ablation resistance, and electrical insulation, making it a key material in high-end fields such as aerospace, electronics, automotive, and medical.

In terms of core characteristics, its wide temperature range adaptability is particularly outstanding: the low phenyl type (phenyl content 5% -15%) can withstand low temperatures up to -110 ℃ to -115 ℃, and still maintain elasticity at -100 ℃; The high phenyl type (with a phenyl content of over 30%) can withstand high temperatures up to 350 ℃, and can reach 400 ℃ in the short term. Its temperature resistance range extends to -110 ℃~350 ℃, far exceeding the -60 ℃~200 ℃ of ordinary silicone rubber.

In addition, the high phenyl type can tolerate radiation such as gamma rays and X-rays, making it suitable for radiation shielding in nuclear reactors and spacecraft; The phenyl type has self extinguishing properties and excellent erosion resistance, making it suitable for rocket engines and high-temperature seals. Its electrical insulation performance is also excellent, with an insulation strength of 20-40 kV/mm, low signal loss in high-frequency circuits, and resistance to ozone and ultraviolet radiation. It does not age after long-term outdoor use. The introduction of phenyl also disrupts the regularity of the molecular chain, lowers the crystallization temperature, and keeps the material flexible at low temperatures. At the same time, it is resistant to chemical corrosion such as engine oil, fuel, and coolant, making it suitable for automotive engines and chemical equipment.

In the application field, it is widely used in the aerospace industry for sealing rings, gaskets, pipes, fuel storage tanks, valves, etc. It is used in extreme temperatures (-110 ℃~400 ℃), radiation environments such as space probes, satellites, as well as vacuum containers, inertial navigation dampers and other components that require heat cycling and vibration resistance. In the field of electronics and electrical engineering, it is used for high-frequency circuit insulators, connectors, electrical equipment casings, sensor protective covers, and wire and cable insulation layers to ensure signal stability and equipment safety.

In the automotive industry, engine seals, gaskets, and hoses are resistant to high temperatures and chemical corrosion, and the protection and insulation of electronic systems such as sensors and wires also depend on this. In the medical field, it is used for sealing artificial organs and implantable medical devices, with good biocompatibility, resistance to high temperature sterilization and chemical disinfection. In the military and nuclear industries, components that are resistant to low temperatures, high damping, and erosion such as sealing rings and shock absorbers, as well as nuclear reactor seals and radiation protection coatings, all need to withstand neutron radiation and high temperatures.
