Hydrogen containing silicone oil: the core driving force for silicone rubber cross-linking

Hits: 1392 img

Hydrogen containing silicone oil (polydimethylsiloxane, CAS 63148-57-2) is used as the core material for silicone crosslinking, and its core function is achieved through hydrosilylation reaction. Under the catalytic action of platinum catalyst, Si-H bonds in hydrogen containing silicone oil molecules undergo specific addition reactions with C=C double bonds in vinyl silicone oil, generating stable Si-C bonds and releasing hydrogen gas, ultimately forming a three-dimensional cross-linked network structure.

The process control of this reaction is particularly critical, and the molar ratio of silicon hydrogen groups (Si-H) in the crosslinking agent to ethylene groups (Si Vi) in the raw rubber needs to be strictly controlled, usually within the range of 1.2 to 1.5 to 1- a ratio that is too low can lead to insufficient crosslinking and make the film appear sticky; If the ratio is too high, it may trigger Si-H self polymerization reaction, producing bubbles that affect the appearance and performance of the product.

This material has multiple excellent performance characteristics. Its high reactivity is due to the easy reactivity of Si-H bonds with active groups such as double bonds and hydroxyl groups in the molecule, which makes it widely used in the curing process of silicone rubber, sealants, and coatings. In terms of weather resistance and waterproofness, a dense waterproof film can be formed on the surface of substrates such as fabrics, glass, and metals through the action of metal salt catalysts, endowing the material with excellent moisture-proof, anti mold, and anti rust properties.

Thermal stability and chemical stability are reflected in their high temperature resistance (flash point ≥ 82 ° F) and decomposition resistance, making them suitable for high temperature scenarios such as high-temperature vulcanized silicone rubber and electronic component protective coatings. The viscosity adjustability is achieved through molecular weight adjustment, with a viscosity range covering 2 to 300 mPa · s, which can be adapted to low viscosity scenarios required for electronic sealing adhesives and high viscosity scenarios required for building waterproofing agents. In addition, the material is colorless, non-toxic, and non irritating, fully meeting the environmental and safety requirements of modern industry.
