The difference between nano coating and normal coating

Hits: 1142 img

There are many differences between nanocoatings and ordinary coatings. The materials of nanocoated coatings are composed of nano-scale particles, such as nanometals, ceramics, polymers, etc., which will produce unique properties such as quantum effects due to small particles; the particles of ordinary coating materials are microns or larger, and their performance mainly depends on the material's own properties. The nanocoated structure is dense and uniform, and the nanoparticles are closely arranged to form an almost seamless barrier, which can effectively block external substances; the ordinary coating structure is relatively loose, with pores on the microscopic, and cracking and peeling are prone to long-term use.

In terms of performance, the hardness and wear resistance of nanocoats are far greater than that of ordinary coatings. For example, nanoceramic coatings have several times hardness that of ordinary coatings, and are more resistant to scratches and wear; nanocoats are also more corrosion-resistant, and their dense structure can prevent chemical corrosion. Nanocoats also have many special functions, such as self-cleaning function that utilizes the lotus leaf effect, nanoaerogels can insulate heat, metal nanocoats can conduct heat, and have good biocompatibility in the medical field, etc.; ordinary coatings have relatively single functions and mainly play basic protection and decorative roles.

In terms of application fields, nanocoats are used in high-end manufacturing, electronic equipment, medical care, new energy and other fields with high performance requirements; ordinary coatings are used in scenarios with relatively low performance requirements such as daily necessities, buildings, and automobiles. In terms of preparation technology, nanocoatings require advanced and complex technologies such as chemical vapor deposition, which are costly, but have a small amount and a long life. Ordinary coatings adopt traditional processes such as spraying, which are low in cost, but require regular maintenance and replacement.
