When we use liquid silicone to make silicone molds, we may encounter the phenomenon of silicone and curing agent not curing for 24 hours after mixing. What is the reason for the non curing of liquid silicone?

Reason 1: If the temperature is too low, liquid silicone gel will be difficult to cure below 10 ℃, which usually occurs more frequently in winter. In this situation, raising the room temperature to 20 ℃ -30 ℃ can solve the problem.
Reason 2: The ratio of curing agent is generally 100:2 for condensation type silicone gel. If the ratio of curing agent added is too small, it will lead to non curing or difficult curing. In addition, the curing agent provided by the manufacturer is usually in weight ratio rather than volume ratio.
Reason 3: The silicone and curing agent are not thoroughly stirred evenly. If not stirred evenly, it will generally cause some cured parts to not cure. Therefore, when stirring, attention should be paid to the residual silicone on the corners of the container.

Reason 4: In addition to the above reasons, if 1:1 or 10:1 addition molding silicone gel is used, it may also cause poisoning reactions between platinum curing agents and compounds such as tin, phosphorus, ammonium, chlorine, carboxylic acids, thiols, hydroxyl groups, etc., leading to non curing. Contact with such compounds should be prohibited during use to avoid non curing.
