But in the mold industry, the "silicone" we refer to is usually not the silica gel of the hydrate of silica mentioned above. Silicone in the mold industry is usually referred to as a type of polysiloxane. Simply put, "silicone" in the mold industry is a synthetic rubber called silicone rubber because it contains silicon atoms, hence it is abbreviated as "silicone".

There are various types of "silicone" in the mold industry, with different uses. As for product performance, there is a significant difference depending on the raw materials used, but overall, this "silicone" (more precisely, silicone rubber) is showing a trend of replacing rubber in the future.

We often refer to "silicone" not simply as a condensation product of silicon dioxide, nor as silicone synthetic rubber in the mold industry. But instead, both types of products are called 'silicone'. At this point, we further divide "silicone" into organic silicone and inorganic silicone. Inorganic silica gel is the first type of "silica gel" we mentioned - the hydrate of silica dioxide.
