05 Silicone Oil in the Mechanical and Electrical Industry

Dimethyl silicone oil is widely used in motors, electrical appliances, and electronic instruments as an insulation medium that is resistant to temperature, arc corona, corrosion, moisture, and dust. Currently, it is also used as an impregnating agent for transformers, capacitors, and scanning transformers in televisions. Used as a liquid shock-absorbing and damping material in various precision machinery, instruments, and meters. The shock absorption performance of dimethyl silicone oil is less affected by temperature and is commonly used in instruments with strong mechanical vibrations and large environmental temperature changes, such as aircraft and automotive instruments. Used for shock absorption, damping, stabilizing instrument readings, and can also be used as a liquid spring in aircraft landing gear.

06 in Coatings

Silicone oil has a low surface tension and unique interfacial properties. Adding a small amount of low viscosity dimethyl silicone oil to coatings and inks can effectively reduce its surface tension, improve its coating and extensibility, and obtain a coating without orange peel and uniform appearance. Compared with traditional coatings, polysiloxane coatings have many excellent properties and therefore occupy a very important position in the coatings industry, especially in the application of functional coatings, which will become increasingly popular. Polysiloxane coatings have the following characteristics: ① excellent light and color retention, high gloss, good decoration, corrosion resistance, excellent chemical resistance of the paint film, as well as good physical and mechanical properties of the paint film, fast drying speed of the paint film, high construction efficiency, stain resistance, and easy cleaning; ② During construction, there is no need to apply intermediate coatings, which reduces the number of coating layers. ③ It is a high solid coating with low VOC content, no isocyanate, low odor, and has the characteristics of safety, health, and environmental protection. Therefore, polysiloxane coatings are applied in architectural coatings.

07 in Medicine

Due to its non-toxic, odorless, biocompatible, non skin sensitization, physiological inertness, high and low temperature resistance, non flammability, good breathability, unique solution permeability, and stable physicochemical properties, polydimethylsiloxane is widely used in the medical field. Dimethyl silicone oil cream can prevent the skin from being affected by acid, alkali, salt, and various detergents. Silicone oil can be used to make defoamers and skin protectants for medical purposes, and can be used to formulate topical medicines for treating various burns and skin diseases. It can also be made into silicone toothpaste with dual effects of anti caries and anti allergy; In addition, polydimethylsiloxane has a wide range of applications in the pharmaceutical industry.

08 Other Applications

Coating for insulation, dust prevention, and mold prevention: Dip a layer of dimethyl silicone oil on the surface of glass and ceramics, and heat treat it at 250-300 ℃ to form a semi permanent waterproof, mold prevention, and insulating film. Using it to treat insulating devices can improve their insulation performance: using it to treat optical instruments can prevent lens and prism from getting moldy; Using it to handle medication bottles can extend the shelf life of drugs without causing loss of the formulation due to wall sticking; Using it to treat the surface of film can provide lubrication, reduce friction, and extend the lifespan of the film.
