The preparation process and reaction mechanism of vinyl silicone oil are similar to those of dimethyl silicone oil: a small number of methyl groups in polydimethylsiloxane
(Me) is replaced by vinyl (Vi) to form a reactive polydimethylsiloxane. It is generally made from octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane, tetramethyltetravinylcyclotetrasiloxane as raw materials, tetramethyldivinyldisiloxane or hexamethyldisiloxane as end capping agents, and catalyzed by acid or base through ring opening equilibrium reaction.
So, vinyl silicone oil is a type of polydimethylsiloxane with different degrees of polymerization and a chain like structure, which appears as a liquid flow.
