Characteristics of Fluorosilicone Rubber

Hits: 814 img

1. Oil resistance, solvent resistance, and chemical resistance
Compared with methyl vinyl silicone rubber, fluorosilicone rubber has extremely excellent oil resistance, solvent resistance, and chemical resistance; Even compared to fluororubber, it has good oil and solvent resistance. After immersion in the same medium, temperature, and time, fluorosilicone rubber showed excellent durability, making it the only elastic material that can withstand non-polar media at -68 ° C to 250 ° C. Fluorosilicone rubber also has good resistance to methanol containing gasoline. Even in gasoline/methanol mixed systems, the hardness, tensile strength, and volume change of its vulcanized rubber are very small. After a long immersion test for 500 hours, there is almost no change in various physical properties.

2. Heat resistance
The high-temperature decomposition of fluorosilicone rubber is similar to that of silicone rubber, including side chain oxidation, main chain breakage, side chain thermal decomposition, and various composite reactions. Due to the fact that decomposition products can also cause main chain breakage, the heat resistance is usually worse than that of silicone rubber, and oxidation aging begins at a temperature of 200 ℃. However, significant improvement can be achieved by adding small amounts of heat stabilizers such as iron, titanium, and rare earth oxides, which provide sufficient heat resistance even at high temperatures of 250 ℃. The temperature has a greater impact on fluorosilicone rubber than on silicone rubber.

3. Cold resistance
Fluorosilicone rubber, like ordinary silicone rubber, has good low-temperature performance. Due to the fact that fluorosilicone rubber is a linear polymer composed of soft Si-O as the main chain, its low-temperature properties are superior to those of fluororubber with C-C as the main chain. Among them, fluorosilicone rubber has better low-temperature characteristics, with a brittleness temperature as low as -89 ℃, while general fluororubber is about -30 ℃.

4. Electrical performance and radiation resistance
The electrical properties of fluorosilicone rubber are similar to ordinary silicone rubber, but what is particularly valuable is that it changes very little under harsh conditions such as high temperature, low temperature, humidity, oil, solvents, chemicals, ozone, etc. The radiation resistance of fluorosilicone rubber is not outstanding, but its radiation aging resistance is better than that of methyl vinyl silicone rubber.

5. Physical and mechanical properties
Fluorosilicone rubber, like ordinary silicone rubber, has lower mechanical strength (especially tear strength) in vulcanized rubber. Therefore, improving and enhancing the strength of fluorosilicone rubber is also an important research topic.

6. Other characteristics
Fluorosilicone rubber has excellent weather aging resistance and maintains good performance even after 5 years of exposure. Ozone is one of the gases generated most during the aging of elastomers, but no cracking or cracking was found in fluorosilicone rubber after dynamic or static testing. In addition, fluorosilicone rubber has excellent anti mold properties, physiological inertness, and anticoagulant properties.
