How to foam and form liquid silicone gel? We call the formed liquid silicone gel foam silicone gel. Foam silicone gel is divided into open cell and closed cell types. Open cell is mainly used for filling materials, while closed cell is mainly used for filling and sealing.

Foaming silicone is mainly achieved through chemical reaction expansion to achieve foaming effect. The expansion ratio is usually divided into 3 times and 6 times. This note can be simply understood as 100 milliliters of foaming silicone liquid, which expands into 300 milliliters or 600 milliliters, increasing the volume.

The surface effect of foam silicone is also somewhat similar to sponge type, with lower softness than sponge; But there is a difference between sponge and foam, sponge absorbs water, while foam silicone does not absorb water. Foam silicone is usually used for filling purposes, as it can effectively reduce the weight of the product and provide seismic resistance.

Foamed silicone belongs to two-component liquid silicone, which is made by mixing two components. Component B is a catalyst that can promote the transformation of foamed silicone from liquid to solid. Regarding the operation of foamed silicone, attention should be paid to:
1. The ratio of foam silicone needs to be 1:1, and an electronic scale must be used for the ratio. Testing with a measuring cup may not be accurate due to different densities. Excessive proportion will accelerate the curing of silicone gel, while insufficient proportion will result in local non curing and other phenomena.
2. The operation time for foaming silicone is extremely short, only 3-5 minutes. The operation must be completed within this time period, otherwise the silicone has already reacted and stopped foaming, making it impossible to operate and use it again.
3. Foamed silicone is a food grade material and should not come into contact with heavy metals such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and sulfur. If it comes into contact, it can cause symptoms such as uncured contact surfaces and sticky hands.
