Condensed single component liquid silicone rubber

Hits: 583 img

Condensed single component liquid silicone rubber is made by mixing hydroxyl terminated polydimethylsiloxane (viscosity 3000-10000 mPa. s) as a base polymer (commonly known as base rubber) with crosslinking agents, catalysts, fillers, and other characteristic additives in a mixer that isolates moisture, and then packaging it in a sealed cylinder or hose. When used, it is extruded under pressure and vulcanized into an elastic body in contact with moisture in the air. During this process, it neither absorbs nor releases heat. The vulcanization time depends on the temperature, humidity, and thickness of the silicone layer of the vulcanization system.
Condensed single component liquid silicone rubber is widely used as an adhesive, sealant, and coating material due to its adhesive properties. As a single component liquid silicone rubber used as an adhesive, the performance after vulcanization should have good adhesion and corrosion resistance to the substrate in contact, as well as good physical and mechanical properties and electrical properties. Therefore, it is best to choose non corrosive dealcoholized or deacetone type single component silicone rubber. When selecting a single component silicone rubber sealant, factors such as the modulus after complete vulcanization, adhesion to the contact substrate, dynamic durability, surface weather resistance, corrosion to the substrate, and contamination to the surrounding area are mainly considered. Among them, modulus is a parameter that characterizes the mobility of the sealant, measured by the tensile stress of the sealant, and is also a grade indicator of the sealant. The characteristics of typical varieties are introduced as follows:
(1) Single component high modulus type: It is the most widely used variety, and its curing systems include deacetylation type, deacetoxime type, and dealcohol type;
(2) Single component low modulus type: The adhesion is worse than the above varieties, and a primer treatment must be applied to the surface in contact with the substrate when using;
(3) Plastic sealant: a dealcoholizing curing system used for sealing joints in transparent plastic sheets instead of inorganic glass reinforcement;
(4) Matte resin type: This sealant only solidifies on the surface, so it can be regarded as an extremely low modulus type, used for difficult to bond and brittle substrate joints such as organic glass and plastic;
(5) Structural sealant: used for the bonding of glass curtain walls in high-rise buildings, with extremely high requirements for adhesion, durability, fatigue resistance, curing speed, etc., to adapt to the wind pressure resistance, seismic resistance of components, and to prevent the risk of glass damage or falling in extreme situations.
