Siloxane is a kind of organic compound containing (R2SiO) X structure, its main chain is formed by (-Si-O-Si-) bond, R represents methyl, phenyl and other organic groups, when the R group on the silicon atom is all replaced by methyl, then methyl siloxane. According to the structure of siloxane main chain, methylsiloxane can be divided into Linear methylsiloxane (LMS) and Cyclic methylsiloxane (CMS), which are usually represented by Ln and Dn respectively (n is the number of silicon atoms).

Siloxane with si-O bond as the main chain has high molecular bond energy and no double bond within the molecule. It is not easy to be decomposed by light and ozone, so it has high thermal stability, good radiation resistance and weather resistance. In addition, the main chain of organic silicon intermolecular force is weak, compared with the same molecular weight of hydrocarbons, has the advantages of weak surface tension, strong film forming ability.

Silicone rubber is a synthetic rubber obtained by the polymerization of siloxane. Its main chain is composed of silicon atoms and oxygen atoms alternately (-Si-O-Si-), and the side chain is usually connected with two organic groups (-C-Si-C-).

Through the silicone rubber of siloxane polymer, the characteristics and advantages of siloxane are maintained. It has the advantages of easy release and good stability. It is an excellent choice for high temperature baked food moulds and has been widely favored by consumers.

The side chain of ordinary silicone rubber is mainly connected with methyl and a small amount of vinyl, namely methyl silicone rubber and methyl vinyl silicone rubber. With the improvement of the temperature and oil resistance of silicone rubber, phenyl, trifluoropropyl and nitrile groups have been gradually introduced into silicone rubber, benzene, fluorine and nitrile silicone rubber and so on.
