On September 26, 2017, when the author saw him in Chengdu Zhonglan Chenguang Academy, his physical and mental state was still so good. He was not allowed to send a car to the unit. He walked from his home to Chenguang Academy with his wife, teacher Zhang Ruqin. Yes, the exchange was over, the unit's car was rejected again, and walked back.

It is of medium build, thin and straight, and looks younger than the age of 77. This is the first impression of seeing Mr. Wang Weiliang.

When Zhang Aixia of Chenguangyuan's "Silicon Materials" editorial department introduced us, "Wang Lao is the father of our high-temperature glue in China," Wang Weiliang corrected on the spot: "I must not say so, I just did a little. Zhang Aixia said: "Don't be humble. You are the winner of the National Award. Your high-temperature glue technology was transferred to South Korea, Poland, Hong Kong, and Taiwan in our country. What is not the father of high-temperature glue?" Wang Weiliang corrected it again. "It must not be said, it is a joke." His wife, teacher Zhang Ruqin, took the stubble and said, "I have been so particular since I was young."

The two elderly people sitting across the conference table are just ordinary, but if they walk on the street, they are no different from the citizens of Chengdu. But half a century ago, the two old men, as the pride of heaven, were studying at the Department of Engineering Chemistry (now Department of Chemical Engineering) at Tsinghua University. They were fortunate. From 1959 to 1965, a six-year undergraduate system. As a nationally-focused engineering and technical talent, no one has trained so comprehensively.

Recalling the rudimentary conditions at the dawn time and the difficulty of experimenting, Wang Weiliang remembers it like yesterday. "It must be polymerized once and measured once. After the reform and opening up, the country began sending "visiting scholars" to study abroad in 1979. This is an important turning point in Wang Weiliang's life. In 1980, he was selected as a "Visit Scholar" to study abroad through the examination of the Ministry of Chemical Industry. He was accepted by many universities in the United States, and in the end he chose the Department of Chemistry of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Fortunately, his professor is Professor Seyferth, an authority on organometallics.

The good learning, experimental conditions and environment have ignited Wang Weiliang's innovation passion and inspiration. With two years of "visiting scholars" and six months of postdoctoral study, he cooperated with his supervisor to overcome a series of scientific research problems, published 8 papers in scientific journals in the United States and Britain, and introduced a large response in the industry. When he was about to return home as planned, Professor Seyferth told him: If you stay, I will give you three conditions: a green card for you in the United States, permanent employment at MIT, and immigration of his wife and children to the United States.

Wang Weiliang told the author: "Today these conditions still look very tempting. At that time, I refused without thinking. At that time, there was only one mind, and quickly learned the cost to pay for my country."

Teacher Zhang Ruqin chimed in, "Look, it's been such a dead heart."

With China's reform and opening up, the "Batoni Organization" ended its "historical mission." European and American countries began to export technology to China. Chenguang Academy was one of the earliest units to undertake "UN assistance projects." Wang Weiliang, who returned from his studies, participated in the drafting of Chenguang Institute's application for undertaking UN assistance projects.

At that time, Chenguangyuan didn't have many scientific researchers who knew English. Wang Weiliang is not only the backbone of China's scientific research but also shoulders the tasks of communicating with foreign experts, translating conferences, and training English for science and technology personnel in the hospital.

Tsinghua's six-year undergraduate solid professional foundation, MIT's two and a half years of experience, direct docking and exchange of Chinese and foreign technology, long-term accumulation of accumulated experience, make Wang Weiliang a silicone authority in the field of technology. This makes him not only contribute to China's silicone rubber, especially high-temperature rubber, to surpass the advanced world level, even in retirement, he has never rested even after retirement. As the main creator, his scientific and technological achievement "Production Technology of Heat-vulcanized Silicone Rubber Raw Rubber" won the First Prize of Science and Technology Progress Award of the Ministry of Chemical Industry and the Second Prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award. For the first time in the field of high-temperature adhesives, China has reached the forefront of the world. In 2002, when Poland decided to purchase Wang Guangliang ’s high-temperature glue technology, it was strongly opposed by some Polish experts, because in their view, it is incredible for a chemical technology powerhouse to buy technology from China. However, the facts convinced them. When Wang Weiliang and his wife Zhang Ruqin and others returned to Poland after ending the technology transfer in Poland, they received an unprecedented high courtesy from the Polish side.

After retiring, Wang Weiliang and his wife Zhang Ruqin, as polymer material experts, have traveled throughout the domestic silicone rubber production enterprises, and silently promoted the domestic silicon rubber technology progress. Including the author's Dongyue. The two of them visited Dongyue many times, but they communicated with technical staff. They never found senior leaders of the company.

Xi Xiangxi, Wang Weiliang was full of respect when he talked about the elderly of Chinese silicone who struggled with himself. Speaking of Huang Wenrun, he told the author:

At the end of the interview, when Wang Weiliang and Zhang Ruqin left, the author kept sending them downstairs and down the street, watching the two elderly people walking home disappear into the crowd. As a recruit in the fluorosilicon industry, I want to pay tribute to my predecessors in this way. The old man Wang Weiliang disappeared into the back of the flow of people, like a monument, leaving the minds of our generation forever.
