Why does silicone stick mold, and what to do after sticking mold?

Hits: 683 img

When using silicone or using silicone to make molds, more or less will encounter silicone sticking with the mold! No matter what material your mold is made of, there will be different degrees of sticking! He and aluminum molds, copper molds, steel molds, FRP, plastic molds will all have a certain degree of sticky mold!
Here I only discuss the phenomenon of sticky mold of liquid silicone, so why does it appear?

First, liquid silicone is a dry oily colloid. The silicone produced is dry and smooth. There is no oily isolation layer on the surface of the mold and it will adhere to the mold to varying degrees.

Secondly, if your mold surface is not smooth enough, the rougher the surface, the stronger it will stick! The stronger he will stick to your mold!

Also, there is a substance on your mold that chemically reacts with the silica gel, and he will stick to the mold! Finally, when the silicone is not completely cured, he will stick to the mold! Wait until he is fully cured before removing the mold!

How can we avoid this sticking phenomenon, and how can we solve this sticking phenomenon? Here are a few ways to learn from!

First, to prevent the phenomenon of mold sticking, first you must clean the mold before using it. When cleaning, you can use water, detergent, to clean it. Electric oil, etc.

Second, make the mold as smooth as possible, as long as the contact surface with silicone is smooth!

Third, do not use substances that can react with silica gel as the silicone mold.

Fourth, wait for the silicone to completely cure before taking the mold!

After you have solved the above three situations, and still have the phenomenon of sticking mold, you must take certain measures.

The best way is to use a release agent. After using the release agent, this phenomenon can be solved. There are many materials that can be used as release agents, such as silicone oil, detergent water, paraffin, petrolatum, oily spray-type release agents, etc.!

Special attention needs to be paid here. The release agent for different adhesives is different. The range of release agents for organic tin curing systems is much wider! The above mentioned can basically be used, but the best release effect is petroleum jelly and oily spray release agent! If the silica gel you use is a platinum curing system, you must pay special attention to it. Most of the release agents mentioned above cannot be used. Vaseline can be used, and it is a medical environmentally friendly petroleum jelly. There is also an oil spray. Release agent!
