What is platinum sulfide?

Hits: 572 img

Platinum catalysts are a commonly used choice for the vulcanization of silicone rubber. Platinum catalysts are usually platinum complexes or platinum organic compounds, which can serve as vulcanizing agents for silicone rubber.

Platinum sulfide can be vulcanized in two ways:
Heat Curing with Platinum Catalyst: During the heating vulcanization process, platinum vulcanizing agent is added as a catalyst to silicone rubber and reacts with vulcanizing agent (such as mercaptan). As the silicone rubber material is heated at a certain temperature, the platinum catalyst will promote the crosslinking reaction of the silicone rubber, thereby achieving vulcanization.
UV Curing with Platinum Catalyst: Platinum vulcanizing agents can also be used with UV light sources for vulcanization. Under UV irradiation, platinum sulfide acts as a catalyst to initiate crosslinking reaction of silicone rubber. This method is commonly used in applications that require rapid curing and precise control of the vulcanization process.

Platinum vulcanizing agents have high efficiency and reliability, and can provide good performance for silicone rubber materials. They are commonly used in the manufacturing of various silicone rubber products such as medical devices, electronic products, seals, molds, etc. The selection of appropriate platinum vulcanizing agent and vulcanization conditions will depend on the specific silicone rubber formula and requirements.
