What is the difference between fluorosilicone rubber and silicone rubber?

Hits: 529 img

Fluorosilicone rubber has excellent oil and solvent resistance properties, suitable for aliphatic, aromatic, and chlorinated hydrocarbon solvents; Various petroleum based fuel oils, lubricants, hydraulic oils, and certain synthetic oils (such as diester lubricants, silicate hydraulic oils, etc.) have good stability at room and high temperatures, and can also maintain elasticity.
Characteristics of fluorosilicone rubber:
Oil resistance, solvent resistance, chemical resistance
Compared with methyl vinyl silicone rubber, fluorosilicone rubber has excellent oil resistance, solvent resistance, and chemical resistance; Even compared to fluororubber, it has good oil and solvent resistance. After immersion in the same medium, temperature, and time, fluorosilicone rubber exhibits excellent durability. It can be said that fluorosilicone rubber is the only elastomer that can withstand non-polar media at -60 ℃ to 260 ℃. The resistance of fluorosilicone rubber to methanol containing gasoline is also relatively good. Even in gasoline/methanol mixed systems, the hardness, tensile strength, and volume change of its vulcanized rubber are very small. After a 500 hour long immersion test, all physical properties have hardly changed.
Heat resistance
The high temperature resistance of fluorosilicone rubber is the same as that of silicone rubber. By adding a small amount of heat stabilizers such as iron, titanium, and rare earth oxides, it can be significantly improved, and even at high temperatures of 250 ℃, it has sufficient heat resistance. Temperature has a greater impact on fluorosilicone rubber than on silicone rubber.
Cold resistance
Fluorosilicone rubber, like ordinary silicone rubber, has good low-temperature performance. Due to the fact that fluorosilicone rubber is a linear polymer composed of soft Si-O as the main chain, its low-temperature properties are superior to those of fluorosilicone rubber with C-C as the main chain. Among them, fluorosilicone rubber has better low-temperature characteristics, with a brittle temperature of -59 ℃, while general fluorosilicone rubber is about -30 ℃.
Physical and mechanical properties
Fluorosilicone rubber, like ordinary silicone rubber, can be made into conductive, antibacterial, flame-retardant, and foamed fluorosilicone rubber by optimizing the material formula design. On the basis of the original oil and solvent resistance performance, it can add characteristics such as conductivity, antibacterial, flame-retardant, and foaming.
Other features
Fluorosilicone rubber has excellent weather aging resistance and maintains good performance even after 5 years of exposure. Ozone is one of the gases generated most during the aging of elastomers, but no cracking or cracking was found in fluorosilicone rubber after dynamic or static testing, indicating good ozone resistance. In addition, the antifungal, physiological inertness, and anticoagulant properties of fluorosilicone rubber are also very good. The changes of fluorosilicone rubber under harsh conditions such as high temperature, low temperature, humidity, oil, solvents, chemicals, and ozone are very small. The radiation resistance of fluorosilicone rubber is not outstanding, but its radiation aging resistance is better than that of methyl vinyl silicone rubber.
