Methylsilicone oil is one of the earliest, most widely used and most commonly used silicone polymers that have been commercialized. There are two main production methods of methyl silicone oil: acid balance method and alkali balance method. The acid balance method is suitable for the production of low viscosity silicone oil with a viscosity below 500mm2/s. The method generally uses concentrated sulfuric acid as a catalyst, reacts at 50~60℃, and then washes to remove acid, remove low boiling material, add activated carbon for decolorization, and transition to finished products. The alkali balance rule is suitable for the production of medium and high viscosity silicone oil with a viscosity of more than 100mm2/s.

In the production of methyl silicone oil, each component of the raw material DMC(dimethyl mixed ring body) will achieve the best activation state at different temperatures, respectively, to open the ring polymerization, improve the conversion rate, thus greatly improving the production efficiency.

After the ring-opening polymerization, the catalyst (CH3)4NOH is difficult to decompose fully during the process of breaking. And a small amount of decomposed ammonia is also mixed in the system, resulting in odor of silicone oil. The method of cooling the system below 140℃ after the system dehumidification is adopted to increase the gas phase pressure of the system, so as to achieve the purpose of discharging the irritating odor.

Between 90 ℃ and 120℃ using the programmed temperature control method and low temperature to 140 through the dry air bubbling, colorless, odorless and qualified methicone can be obtained, the average conversion rate increased from 65% to more than 80%. This kind of qualified silicone oil is suitable for the use of silicone oil, of course, colorless, odorless is also a reference standard for everyone to judge whether silicone oil is qualified.
