The role of phenyl silicone oil in lubricating oil

Hits: 354 img

The definition of lubrication: adding lubricant between the two contact surfaces in relative motion, forming a lubricating film between the two friction surfaces, separating the direct contact surface, and turning dry friction into internal friction between lubricant molecules, reducing friction, reducing wear, and extending the service life of mechanical equipment

Lubricating oil functions: reduce friction, wear, cooling, rust prevention, power transmission, sealing, shock absorption and cleaning.

Lubricating oil composition: Base oil additive Common base oil: mineral oil, synthetic base oil, vegetable oil and silicone oil.

The viscosity coefficient of silicone oil is lower than that of organic polymer with carbon chain structure, mainly because the silicone oil molecular chain has large siloxane bonding Angle and binding energy, large orientation freedom and high flexibility.

Among all kinds of silicone oils, the temperature viscosity coefficient of methyl silicone oil is the smallest, and the viscosity changes the most with the temperature, so it is the most suitable base oil for damping liquid. With the increase of temperature, the viscosity of methyl silicone oil changes greatly at low temperature, and changes little at high temperature. Therefore, methyl silicone oil is a more suitable damping material for use at high temperatures.

The damping performance of silicone oil damping fluid is stable over a wide range of temperature and frequency. However, in order to further improve the damping performance of silicone oil, a certain amount of filler should be added to increase its viscosity.

Silicone oils used as base oils include methyl silicone oil and methyl phenyl silicone oil. Methyl phenyl silicone oil has high temperature, low freezing point and excellent oxidation resistance, so it is often used in the synthesis of high temperature grease base oil.
