Linear dimethyl silicone oil with Si-O-Si as the main chain and methyl group connected to silicon atom has a series of characteristics due to small intermolecular force, helical structure of molecules, outward arrangement of methyl group and free rotation. For example, colorless and transparent, low temperature viscosity coefficient, large expansion coefficient, low vapor pressure, high flash point, high and low temperature resistance, low surface tension, high compression ratio, inert to materials, chemical inert, non corrosive and physiological inert, these characteristics determine its broad use.

1. Application in electromechanical industry
It is widely used in motors, electrical appliances and electronic instruments as insulation medium with temperature resistance, arc corona resistance, corrosion resistance, moisture resistance and dust prevention. At present, it is also used as impregnant for scanning transformers of transformers, capacitors and televisions. In various precision machinery, instruments and meters, it is used as liquid shock proof and damping materials. 201 Methyl silicone oil is less affected by temperature, and is mostly used in aircraft and automobile instruments under strong mechanical vibration and large change of ambient temperature.

2. Used as smoothing agent for sewing thread
Methyl silicone oil is widely used as oil agent for fiber precursor and raw cotton, oil agent for spinning, and smoothing agent for sewing thread. The oil used for precursor and raw cotton is methyl silicone oil with low viscosity, generally 10 viscosity. The smoothing agent for sewing thread is methyl silicone oil with medium and high viscosity, and 500 viscosity silicone oil is generally used. Using the thermal stability and low viscosity temperature coefficient of methyl silicone oil, together with spinning finishes made of anti-static agent, emulsifier and other finishes, it is used in the spinning process of nylon and polyurethane to prevent the broken wires and looseness caused by electrification when extremely fine monofilament bundles are ejected from the spinneret nozzle and during rapid winding. During melt prevention, the nozzle shall also be demoulded with methyl silicone oil to prevent the attachment of carbides or melts from causing wire breakage.

3. As defoamer
Dimethyl silicone oil has low surface tension, is insoluble in water, has good chemical stability and is non-toxic. As a defoamer, it has been widely used in petroleum, chemical, medical, pharmaceutical, food processing, textile, printing and dyeing, paper making and other industries. The secondary processing of silicone oil can also produce defoamer emulsion, which can be used in water-based systems.

4. As release agent
It is not sticky with rubber, plastic, metal, etc. It can also be used as a release agent for various rubber and plastic products and in precision casting. It is not only convenient for demoulding, but also makes the surface of products clean, smooth and clear.

5. Apply insulating, dustproof and mildewproof coating
Dip a layer of 201 methyl silicone oil on the surface of glass and ceramics and conduct heat treatment at 250-300 ℃ to form a semi permanent waterproof, mildew proof and insulating film. The insulating performance of the device can be improved by treating the insulating device; The processing of optical instruments can prevent the lens and prism from mildewing; When the medicine bottle is handled, the preservation period of the medicine can be prolonged, and the preparation will not be lost due to sticking to the wall; It can be used to treat the surface of film, which can play a lubricating role, reduce friction, and extend the film life.

6. As lubricant
Used as lubricant for rubber, plastic bearings and gears. It can also be used as a lubricant for rolling friction between steel and steel under high temperature, or for friction between steel and other metals.

7. As additive
It can be used as an additive for many materials. For example, it can be used as a brightener of paint. Adding a small amount of silicone oil into the paint can prevent the paint from floating and wrinkling, and improve the brightness of the paint film; Adding a small amount of silicone oil to the ink can improve the printing quality; Adding a small amount of silicone oil to the polishing oil (such as automobile varnish) can increase the brightness, protect the paint film, and have excellent waterproof effect.
