When many people check in, they will inquire about all kinds of closing strategies, and even ask for the help of a professional closing teacher. The kitchen and bathroom in the fine decoration new house are the most complete equipment, which is the key inspection area when we close the room. In most cases, we will ignore the small material of sealant. In the process of inspection, we can only see the appearance of sealant, but we can't judge whether the quality of sealant is reliable and whether it can meet the actual use.

We saw on the check-in equipment list that the equipment used in the kitchen and toilet were well-known brands, and we were very satisfied at that time. One year later, the kitchen and bathroom equipment are in normal use, but the humble sealant for kitchen and bathroom has two annoying problems: Mildew and cracking.
At the end of the room, the sealant looks very beautiful, so how do these two problems arise? How can they be avoided? Xiaobian, as a technician of sealant manufacturer, will come to answer them.
The first problem: mold of sealant (see Figure 1), which is caused by mold growth on the surface of sealant.

After using the sealant for a period of time, the surface will accumulate dirt, which is rich in organic matters; and the kitchen, bathroom and other places of use are always wet, which is easy to breed microorganisms. Ordinary sealant has no bactericidal and bacteriostatic ingredients. After using for a period of time, mold is easy to grow on the surface, even penetrate into the interior of sealant, which is difficult to remove.
Moldy sealant, the most intuitive feeling is that the appearance of the sealant joint is ugly, which affects the home experience, which deviates from the pursuit of high-quality interior decoration demand; in addition, the mold on the sealant surface is harmful to the health. Allergens released by mould can cause allergic reaction after inhalation, and poisoning symptoms may occur if mould is eaten by mistake..
To avoid mold of sealant, it is necessary to select special anti mold sealant. For example, Baiyun chemical's interior anti mold sealant (hd208 anti mold sealant, hd108 anti mold sealant) can effectively inhibit and prevent the growth of mold on the surface of the adhesive after special formula design, all of which reach the class 0 anti mold grade of the industry standard JC / T 885 anti mold sealant for building, and are environmentally friendly and pollution-free, so it is very suitable for the joint sealing in the environment prone to growth of mold.
The second problem: the sealant cracks (see Figure 2), the possible reasons are: 1) the elasticity of the sealant decreases; 2) the elasticity of the sealant is low, which can not bear the change of the width of the joint; 3) the sealant and the base material are debonding. According to the on-site confirmation, the reason for the crack of sealant in the picture is: the sealant filled with oil is used, and after a period of time, the sealant becomes hard, which is caused by debonding.

In general, the joint deformation of kitchen and bathroom glue is not large, and the displacement of sealant used is mainly 20 and 12.5, which can meet the application generally. However, if the oil filled sealant is used, it can meet the application requirements at the beginning; after a period of time, the mineral oil filled in the oil filled sealant will migrate and permeate out, causing the colloid elasticity to decline and become hard, which will cause cracking or even debonding, as shown by the arrow in Figure 2.
In particular, the kitchen stove seam, the stove in use, will produce a higher temperature. High temperature has a great influence on the oil filled sealant, which will accelerate the migration and penetration of the mineral oil. Under this condition, the oil filled sealant will be cracked and debonded in a short time; while under this application condition, the performance of the sealant without oil filling will not change significantly.
In order to avoid this kind of cracking, it is recommended to use sealant that is not filled with oil. For example, I use Baiyun chemical's internal general sealant HD201 at the joints around the gas stove, so far there is no problem (see Figure 3). HD201 general sealant meets the requirements of GW in GB / t14683-2017 (alkane plasticizer shall not be detected, that is, there is no mineral oil in the sealant).
