The concept of liquid rubber

Liquid rubber is a kind of relative molecular mass between 2000-10000. It is a viscous and fluid liquid at room temperature. After appropriate chemical reaction, it can form a three-dimensional network structure, so as to obtain a product with similar physical and mechanical properties to ordinary vulcanized rubber. Oligomer. The characteristics of liquid rubber are as follows: first, the molecular weight should be appropriately small to maintain a fluid state; second, it should be able to generate crosslinks, and the physical and mechanical properties of the crosslinks should reach the level of ordinary vulcanizates.

The difference between liquid rubber and fixed rubber

In order to become a product, solid rubber must go through multiple processes such as mixing, molding, and vulcanization with various compounding agents, which requires a lot of energy; while liquid rubber only needs to be mixed with various compounding agents, and the cross-linking reaction is carried out by heating. product can be obtained.

Liquid rubber is easy to process and has the advantage of less energy consumption. The liquid rubber is still in a liquid state after mixing with the compounding agent. When using it to make small parts, it can be cured after injecting the liquid rubber into the small gap, which is very convenient in processing operations. Liquid rubber production enterprises and processing enterprises make full use of this advantage, and after years of continuous development and research, liquid rubber has been widely used in various fields.

Types of liquid rubber

Liquid rubber can be roughly divided into the following categories according to the type of its main chain:

(1) Diene liquid rubber;

(2) olefin liquid rubber;

(3) Polyurethane liquid rubber (polyether polyol, polyester polyol);

(4) Liquid silicone rubber;

(5) Liquid polysulfide rubber;

(6) Liquid fluororubber.

Various liquid rubbers can be divided into various grades according to their molecular structure, molecular weight and different functional groups.

Compared with solid rubber, liquid rubber has the following advantages:

(1) Liquid rubber is a cast-type elastomer, and the processing technology is easy to realize mechanization, continuity and automation, which can reduce labor intensity and improve the working environment.

(2) Reduced investment in processing equipment and models.

(3) Saving auxiliary costs (energy saving and resource saving)

(4) Do not use solvents, water and other dispersion media, and process in liquid state (solvent-free, pollution-free)

(5) By means of main chain extension and cross-linking methods, physical properties and vulcanization speed can be adjusted in a wide range.

shortcoming:

(1) More expensive than the corresponding solid rubber;

(2) There are still problems in strength and flexural resistance;

(3) A separate process system must be established in the mixing and molding of reinforcing fillers (it is difficult to use existing rubber processing equipment);

(4) If the processing technology is not mechanized, automated and continuous, the cost will be very high.
