It is mostly used in situations with high performance requirements such as waterproof, shock absorption, sealing gasket (sealing grade IP68), sound insulation, insulation, aviation insulation, etc. According to the cell structure, silicone rubber foam can be divided into three types: closed cell type, open cell type and mixed type.

Closed cell foamed silicone foam material has good characteristics of shock absorption, sound insulation, thermal insulation, flame retardant and explosion-proof. It is mainly used in the automotive field for thermal insulation foam pipes for automotive on-board air conditioners, automotive shock absorption, and foamed silicone sealing gaskets for new energy automotive batteries. At present, most automotive interior materials, such as floor, ceiling, steering wheel, car seat, etc., are polyurethane foam materials. This is because on the one hand, polyurethane foam materials are relatively mature in technology, and their performance meets the use needs; On the other hand, the price of polyurethane foam material is low. However, polyurethane foam materials have poor weather resistance, are flammable and release a large number of toxic gases harmful to human health during combustion. Therefore, with the promotion of foamed silicone materials and the improvement of people's understanding of them, foamed silicone materials are expected to replace traditional polyurethane foam materials in the future.
