Common problems encountered in the application of mold silicone rubber

Hits: 211 img

1. Why does mold silicone rubber have less times of mold turnover?
Too much silicone oil was added in the process of making the mold. The silicone oil destroyed the molecular weight of the silica gel, so the mold would turn over less times and not be durable. If we make small products with complex patterns and open the mold with silica gel with high hardness, there will be less times of mold turning, because silica gel will be brittle and easy to break when it is too hard. On the contrary, if the mold is made of silica gel with low hardness for building products, the result will also be unsatisfactory. Because silica gel is too soft, its tensile and tear strength will be reduced, and the mold made will be deformed, so the number of mold turns will be reduced. The quality of the mold glue itself is very good. There is no difference between good and bad silica gel, only suitable and unsuitable. If we use silica gel suitable for the hardness of the product to make the mold, this will not happen.

2. Why does mold silicone rubber burn?
Because unsaturated resin and resin products added with peroxide curing agent will generate a large amount of heat in case of resin reaction. Generally, the curing time of resin is 3 minutes, so it is necessary to release the mold as soon as possible after 3 minutes to prevent the silica gel mold from burning.

3. The manufacturing method of filling mold and parting mold of mold silicone rubber:
Slice mold or sheet mold operation method: apply or pour the vacuum silica gel. If you are making a piece mold or a piece mold, you need to apply a layer of release agent or isolating agent to the product or model you want to copy before applying, and then apply silica gel to the product (note: it must be applied evenly). After waiting for 30 minutes, stick a layer of gauze or glass fiber cloth on the surface to increase the strength, and then apply the second layer of silica gel. After the silica gel is dry, make the outer mold, The external mold can use gypsum or resin and other materials.
Operation method of pouring mold or pouring mold: pouring mold or pouring mold is used for relatively smooth or simple products. It is to enclose the product or model you want to copy with rubber plate or glass plate, pour the vacuum-pumped silica gel directly onto the product, and take out the product after the silica gel is dried and formed, The mold is formed (note: the injection mold is generally made of silica gel with relatively soft hardness, which is easier to demould and will not damage the products in the silica gel mold). The above is the whole process of using and operating the silica gel in the mold.

4. Why does mold silicone rubber not dry in the surface?
Mold silica gel is a condensed silica gel, which is solidified by absorbing water in the air. This phenomenon occurs when the silica gel evaporates dry without adding proper amount of water in the process of preparation. Solution: This phenomenon is not a product quality problem, but because the water content is not controlled, the storage life of the silica gel is improved, and the shelf life is long. As long as the silica gel is used, an appropriate amount of 0.05% water is added, and the mixing is even, some problems can be solved.

5. Why does mold silicone rubber have poor tension?
Because the customer added a large amount of silicone oil to the silica gel in order to reduce the viscosity of the silica gel and make the silica gel easy to operate in the process of making the mold, which would make the silica gel very soft, resulting in the phenomenon of tension resistance, tear strength reduction, and tension deterioration, resulting in the mold is not durable, short service life, and fewer times of mold turnover.

6. Why does the mold leak oil?
The mold silica gel itself does not emit oil, which is caused by the addition of compound silicone oil (the mixture of silicone oil and white mineral oil) during the operation, because white mineral oil is a petrochemical product, not silicone oil.

7. Why does the mold produce acid and alkali resistance and aging resistance?
In the process of making silica gel mold, we suggest that the customer should not add any silicone oil. If necessary, the amount of silicone oil should not exceed 5% - 10% at most. Because too much silicone oil will damage the molecular weight of silica gel, the mold made will not be resistant to acid, alkali and aging.

8. Why does the mold made of silicone rubber have traces, stripes, unsmooth and other phenomena on the surface?
This phenomenon occurs because the product or model to be copied has not been polished or polished. Because the model or product itself is not smooth or perfect, if the product or model to be copied is not polished or polished, the mold made of the best silicone will not be beautiful or smooth enough. Another situation is that when applying release agent, the mold will not be smooth if it is not painted evenly.
